Dr. Edward Perin, Psychologist

Deep, Lasting Change.

Welcome! I work online with adults around anxiety, work stress, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and trauma. My specialization is depth psychotherapy, which is focused on getting to the bottom of our emotional issues, like how our experiences influenced our personality, and delves into the unconscious to explore the roots of our desires and pain.

Many people come to Therapy to heal or transform, but therapy isn't only focused on fixing something that's broken. It can also help driven people who are aiming to be more productive and fulfilled. If that's you, then we should talk.

In my practice, I believe that therapy is about helping you understand yourself in a deeper, more meaningful way. The first few times I looked for a therapist, I found myself with someone trying to correct everything I said or give me self-help worksheets to fill out instead of listen to me. This wasn’t just invalidating, but it came across as if I didn't know what was wrong or that change was so simple. If taking advice solved problems, growing up would be easy!

It took three or four therapists before I discovered one who understood personal insight was more potent than advice you could find on YouTube. I care about this because a developmental approach helped me understand myself in ways that freed me to live my life more meaningfully and skillfully. I know first-hand the freedom and personal strength deeper self-understanding provides.

My role is to be beside you as you go on this journey. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, I am committed to understanding your conflicts as you find enhanced clarity and willingness to confront life as it is thrown at you in ways aligned with the person you want to be.

I care because every person deserves the chance to heal, grow, and build a life they find meaningful. I’m here to help you realize that every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you prescribe medication?

Our therapists are not psychiatrists and therefore we do not prescribe medication. However, in some cases medication can be valuable in combination with psychotherapy. If your therapist determines that you could benefit from meeting with a psychiatrist, we can assist with referring you to someone in our trusted network of referrals.

How long does therapy last?

There is no specific time frame when working on personal development and growth. Depending on the type of changes that you are looking to make and the variety of issues that you are attempting to work on, therapy can last from a few sessions to much longer. Some find therapy to be extremely beneficial and choose to make it a long-term process.

What can I expect to achieve in therapy?

There are many benefits to engaging in therapy. Some of these include: gaining a better understanding of oneself, figuring out life goals and prospects, improving personal relationships, developing coping skills, enhancing problem-solving abilities, making positive changes to problem behaviors, and boosting self-esteem. Your therapist will work with you throughout this process and offer new insight to an issue that you have been struggling with. The benefit that you obtain will ultimately depend on how committed you are to the treatment.

Why don't you accept insurance?

While it may seem counterintuitive, this actually allows us to provide you with a more confidential and personalized experience. When using insurance to pay for therapy, we are required to disclose your diagnosis and treatment notes to your insurance company in order to receive payment. This undermines the basic premise of therapy and also gives non-clinical staff access to private health information about you. This way we can provide our services to a wider range of clients, while also ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. For clients unable to afford our full fee, we offer a limited number of appointments at a reduced, sliding-scale rate. Our sliding scale is based on financial need and availability.
