Learning Communities
Some of the most interesting ideas in psychology come from trying to understand what happens when people gather in a room together.
I am especially interested in process groups: environments where people learn not only from a teacher or a curriculum, but from one another, from what happens between them, and from paying attention to the group as it develops.
That interest extends beyond psychotherapy. I value education deeply, but I am most interested in education that becomes a community: book clubs, training groups, workshops, conversations, and other places where people can think seriously together.
A lot of what I’m interested in right now lives at the Hopewell Institute of Psychology and Psychotherapy.
It’s an educational resource I’m building around depth psychotherapy, psychodynamic science, group theory, and the craft of psychotherapy. There’s a growing library, educational material, and eventually more opportunities for people to learn together through groups, programs, and conversations.
If any of that sounds interesting, take a look. I think it’s pretty neat.
